White Elephant

so I put another inch on the XJ last weekend, using extended shackles for the rear. The passenger side shackle is rubbing on the exhaust pipe. I'm not sure if my pipe is bent, or if the shackle sticks out too far.

Any help/ideas how to fix it?

mine also rubs, but its been over a year since i installed it and never fixed it and never ran into any problems.

mine rubs and rattles... thats it no problems . I need to just cut it a few inches shorter but I always seem to find better stuff to do with my time.

i cut a few inches off my exhaust to solve that problem.

loosen the clamp there and adjust over ive got a hitch shackle and 3 inch tail pipe no issues.

Basically what I did too. Had a 2.5" Catback installed and mine terminates alot soon, before the shackle. Dont want to be hitting that thing when your backing up on stuff, thats how manifolds crack

Did this on mine. Lasted a few hours like that before it melted the zip tie. Added one piece that wrapped all the way around twice(high heat resistant rubber) and zip tied it on, expected it to last maybe a day.. Well it's last for 3 years now so far. Looks ghetto, but at least i dont hear it hitting my exhaust.

I cut my tail off before the shackle. It's a very tight spot and very common rattle on a XJ.

My problem is my efffin gas tank heat shield rattling... i dont even have longer shackles....drives me crazy
