New diff cover caused Dana 30 to leak

Thanks guys for the quick responses. I had just gotten the axle back two weeks ago from getting it re geared and new seals installed, so I was super bummed to it leaking after getting it back under my XJ.
If it is a pinched seal, is it likely that the will have to be replaced or just re seated?? Thanks again.

Incase nobody has said it, damaged seal.
Also, you are not supposed to fill up all the way to the fill hole on the aftermarket covers. If you hacnt changed your pinion angle then fill up the same amount as you would with a factory cover

i would imagine your seals are just fine, raised fill plug location or not, you are supposed to fill the diff to stock specs, it will leak if you over fill the diff, good or bad seals, it will be over full if you fill up to your new fill plug location unless you have some seriously rotated diffs,
more oil is not good, makes foam, bad things happen.
