Default New diff cover caused Dana 30 to leak

On my Dana 30 I recently installed new seals and a new riddler diff cover. The fill hole is much higher for more fluid capacity. However, now in noticing diff fluid leaking out of the driver side of my axle housing. Is it possible that the increased fluid capacity has increased pressure within the diff and causing fluid to leak past the seal?? I definitely notice an increase in leakage when I refill the diff after some has leaked out.

did you pinch a seal when you changed them? is the diff vent plugged?

What diff covers did you use?? Was there a raised fill hole?? I'm using riddler diff covers with raised fill holes.

I used Riddler on my TJ's F&R diffs , an RuffStuff on My YJ

I plan on Ruffstuff on the XJ also . I am wondering if your seal was torn or not seated properly

For sure! However, I'm going to determine the impacts of the new diff cover before I start tearing into it again. Like I said the leakage seems to stop after the fluid level in the diff is lowered. This lower fluid level I imagine is at about the stock fluid level. So I was wondering if anyone else has seen this before. I'm tryn to rule out one thing at a time, making sure not to miss the obvious.

I use a pluming fitting to over fill and do notice it leak more with higher level and she slows then stops leaking just below stock level

Questions simply help diagnostics.

The inner seal may very well have gotten pinched, or not seated correctly upon install, probably towards the top. I don't think it'd be a "pressure" thing as you say, just a bad sealed surface.

if you have an unobstructed vent hose (which you should), there is no pressure in there.

the raised fill plug is not exactly for more fluid capacity, but to accomodate those with rotated axle housings to get the correct fluid level in there. or where there is both a high and low pinion version of that axle, and they make one cover to accomodate those.

but there is no reason it should leak with more fluid in there regardless.

X2 you probly ****ed a seal up. It just leaks worse with more fluid. I've done this on industrial gear boxes before...

Well after reading all that, posting, then reading again....I'm leaning towards a pinched/tore seal.
