Default Need your ideas for exhaust setups!

So I am on the hunt for le perfect exhaust setup for my 98 Cherokee. right now it's stock, but I plan on raising my exhaust so its out of the way & to put aftermarket header/manifold, cat & muffler.
I'm lookin for a low & beefy sound that's not excessively loud but with a good noticeable rumble. anyone's ideas/recommendations/input is helpful on what's good, what's not, ect.

Thankyou to all in advance!

I have no complaints with the Super 44 Offroad muffler I picked up a few months ago. Two of my buddies liked it so much they picked them up too.

I'm in the same situation. This is by far the best deal I've found yet, and the member on this forum Mudfrog is a vendor rep. He has a post on here that I found informative and you get a 5% discount with the code cherokeeforum on this website:

http://performance-curve.com/exhaust.aspx

I'm leaning towards the flowmaster 44 with the mandrel bent tailpipe kit, a high-flow cat of some sort and a header that I've yet to decide on...

From what I can find there is no pre-made front pipe for between the header and cat that doesn't have kinks, etc in it. The best recommendations I've found are to a) get a stock one or b) get an exhaust shop to piece one together out of pre-bent (mandrel) elbows and pieces.

Here's the big thread:

all muffler and exhaust questions

When I do mine, I will probably copy CrawlerXJ's recommendations (sent him some pm's and he was very helpful and knowledgeable about exhaust systems)

2.5"
Walker 55277 down pipe Walker 55277 down pipe
- $60
2.5" Magnaflow hi flow cat - $70
2.5” Borla Pro XS $90
Dynomax tail pipe (2.5") $42

Only thing I'm hesitant about is if the Borla will be too quiet or not. We will see though.

dang, I'm all over Amazon - how did I miss that down pipe!?!? Thank you!

It looks like it has 2 spots for the o2 sensors though, shouldn't one be after the cat?

Header, 2.5" pipe, high flow cat and a flowmaster 10 series muffler. Problem solved

Your going to waste alot of money for very minimal gain other than noise replacing all of that. Only part of my exhaust that has ever made contact to obstacles is the factory cat and thats just kissing it slightly. I run a flowmaster 50 series, has a deep sound and not raspy.

yeah that's what I was thinking, that ima waste money in stuff that don't matter, I'll probabally just get high performance smaller cat and like a thrush muffler but that's it, oh yeah and my header collector is cracked so I'll prob have to buy a new manifold. basically the whole exhaust -.-

and flowmasters sound good but there heavy and I don't want my shot being knocked loose or sagging with time. Idk, my exhaust will prob be one of the last things I fix since it's of minimal importance, the cat and muffler don't really get knocked on that much

I run a Borla header with that set up. The 10 series is a single chamber ans is very small so you don't have to worry about weight or it hanging down.

the main problem is how ****in expensive headers are! and i really don't like solid headers in fear of cracked collectors, unless i run a flex pipe right under? if it would help at all? but yeah that flow master does look pretty small. i like it. does it sound good?

Manifold can be reparied usually. The flowmaster is no heavier than a stock muffler

Do headers usually crack like manifolds?
