Need to know lift size for 33x12.5s no trimming
#31
There is no drama. He wants to lift his junk to fit 33's, but doesn't want to cut anything. So should he get a 6.5" lift? But wait, it's his daily driver and his control arm angle and shackle angle are going to suck and his DD is going to drive like crap. So now does he invest in long arms or drop brackets and some shackle relocation brackets?
Then his driveline angle is going to suck and he's eating up u-joints and has crazy vibes. Time for a SYE or hack-n-tap. Wait, does he have a D35? That might explode on the street. His MPG blows, time to regear. It's a can of worms and he needs to know that. Wanting something doesn't change reality.

We turn out 2.5-4.5" xj's and tj's, YJ's, jk's, zj's, tacomas, etc... weekly with 31-33" tires.
Its not as bad as you make it out to be. Very little if any drive line vibes. And no one is going through u-joints mall crawling. Every rig we turn out does not have DW and drives fine. We have to make certain of this.
The d35 is fine, no need to re gear for what he is doing.
Being aware of what? Nothing bad is happening with the 4.5" lifts we turn out. Yea, your gas mileage will go to crap. But if you are driving an xj you have crap mileage anyways.
Bottom line is what he wants is fine and will not cause his xj to explode.
I would stay with 2.5 -3in of lift and 31's. But its his jeep not mine.

we get it holycaveman, you lift jeeps every day and your blocks are better than new leaf packs.
emptypockets hit it square on the nose. that's what the kid is facing and he needs to be aware of it.
referring back to the first page and that meme "one does not simply lift a jeep"

I think we've helped the OP in one way or another, and it's most likely he won't do the 33s now that he knows what he's getting into.

OP I was you once, two years ago. I'm 18 now. Start out with a basic rough country 3" kit and build as you go. I did that first then once I regrouped my money, went for new control arms and 1.5" spacers, shackles. Etc. it's not like your the only 16 year old who wants 33s under his jeep. I had a different dream at your age. I wanted 40" tires under my 84 Chevy. Lemme just say it wasn't a quick or easy road but 2.5 years later I just finished it from the frame up.

36's with stock flares at 4.5in lift. Some trimming will have to be done to front, but you dont have to hack job your jeep.
Same setup and trimming but with 32's

This thread is retarded. Why lift it if its never going to leave the road? Wanna be cool like the guys with f350's and dodge cummins with 40" tires that ruin the use of the truck?
Sorry kid... all you are going to do is kill your gas milage, make your JEEP (not a freaking car) more unstable, harder to drive down the freeway, and non the less uncool with bfg all terrains.
But hell... its your jeep do what you want.
My only advise is buy a good quality kit from rubicon express. Get adjustable arms. Get full leaf packs. DO NOT GET BLOCKS!!!!!! Holycaveturd will tell you they are fine and bla bla bla... do not listen to him.
And my only recomendation is never ever call your cherokee a car. Its one of 3 things. A jeep, a cherokee, or an xj.
