Default Need help with Rubicon Express 3.5

Im looking at buying a rubicon express 3.5 super ride lift. My questions and concerns are installation difficulty and will i need other parts other than what is included in this lift? Obviously i have to get shocks separate, but is there any other part that i would need to get as well?

Thanks for the help!

The lift is not to hard to do. I would suggest using pb blaster on every bolt and nut. I'm not sure what the kit comes with. But you'll will need longer brake lines if you flex a lot and sway bar discos.

Read my build thread, I build a 3.5" re lift with bilstein 5100 shocks for $700

I bought the following for mine :

2 coils
2 leaf springs
4 u bolts
1 Adj Trac bar
3 extended brake lines
Bar Pin eliminators for front and rear
Extended bumpstops Front and Rear
4 Shocks

(I re used the Tcase drop and LCA's from the lift I had)

I've got the 3.5 RE superride, it's a nice kit. At that lift height you can either drill your trackbar mount a tad to the side to center the axle, or purchase an adjustable trackbar(preferable.) When I installed my lift I ended up needing to buy a set of leaf spring bolts from the dealer, two new bolts/nuts for my LCAs, eight new bolts/nuts for my shocks. The majority of new bolts was because so many snapped or had to be cut out due to rust/seizing, but that's northern Michigan for ya lol. BTW, go with full leaf packs, not AAL.

Yeah I plan on doing full leaf packs. But as far as all the bolts and things you had to replace, how much did that cost you roughly?

Check to see which rear axle you have, if you have the 8.25 you'll have to buy a U-bolt kit, RE1225 I think. Ive got the lift, just havent installed it yet.

That comes free just specify or go to a 4x4 shop order together and its free at least that what I saw when I was shopping. Also get grade8 bolts cuz you will break at least one if your lucky you won't but just in case, it comes with sway bar links. I'll need the tcase drop and that should be it. They come with everything but shocks

Be sure to get the adjustable track bar bracket as well. Scrap the rear sway bar. You won't notice any difference. Adjustable UCAs are nice as well. I suggest buying ZJ tie rod ends as well, they're a lot heavier duty than the stock ones. Plan on having to purchase at least a few stock leaf spring bolts and rear shock bolts... If it comes from a state that uses salt on the roads. Good luck on your lift, I love mine. Cheers

I had the Super Ride installed on my 98XJ. Did not do it myself but watched the work and it does not look very complex.

I had re-gearing done at the same time, so it was worth having a shop take care of all of it. I am, however, still suffering from alignment problems and currently on my third round, trying to get rid of a right drift...

Lift is higher than advertised - I am way over 4" (full spring pack and 5100s).

Shackles are standing up - need to relocate to get back 45 degrees.

No rub with 32x11.50R15.

I added an RE adjustable track bar, RE tie rod and RE stabilizer...

In hindsight, I should have gone 5 or 6" long arm and be done with it... a 3.5" lift is just in that middle, where you are beyond regular beefy tire on stock wheel but just too low to comfortably stick some nice 33s....

I installed a Soft ride 3.5" on a friends rig. He had purchased the whole soft ride kit then shocks and adj. trac bar. He actually got around 4.5" of lift. He had gotten terrible vibs from the driveshaft so he bought IRO's hack and tap SYE and driveshaft. Then with that he had to purchase 6 degree shims to get the pinion angle correct. After that he was sitting raked in the rear so he bought 2" spacers for the front.

After all was said and done, he's at 5" of lift with no trimming, 31's, and can completely flex to bumpstops with no rub.

I've got 33x12.5s on mine and with trimming and a bit of bumpstop I only rub when I am steering+flexed out at the same time.

Same happened to me. On 97 and up, above 3" lift, you are almost certain to need a SYE, unless you are willing to drop the TC.

I had really bad vibrations from the new rear shaft (new RE 34") when accelerating. Rode fine when coasting . Had to shim only 2 degrees and now it rides like a Caddy...

Agree about the lift being uneven - I will need to get some poly spacers for the coils, as the rear sits higher than the front... Other option is to get the longer RE coils, from the 4.5" lift...
