Smile Napier vs Bushwacker Flat Flares

Hiya,

It's time for flares and I'm toying between the Napier or Bsuhwacker flat flares. From what I gather ont he net and forums is:

Bushwacker is wider at ~5 inches, Napier at ~3.5

What I'd like to know is which flares cuts the most metal away for clearance?

Thanks in advance.

From what I have read if you want more metal cut away you need to go with the pocket style flares . I have the Bushwacker Flats and had to cut away very little metal and with 31 inch tires and 3 inch lift it is about the right look . I could go with 32s but I believe 33s would rub . I got a good deal on Amazon , the flares were 380 and got a 50 dollar rebate from Bushwacker .

Thanks for the quick reply. I have 6.5 lift and 33's. Looking at the Bushwhacker installation PDF and then the Napier ... it looks like the Napier flats cut an inch or more over the BW's. The top of the Napier's is just below the body line, the BW's are q.wt or more away.

In you pics the BW's dont look like they are 5+ inches wide. Do they make a narrower version?

34's (305x70R17) fit perfectly at 3.5" of lift with the bushwackers:

The tire starts to rub on all 3 sides equally at full stuff with proper bumpstops:

I'm going to attempt to run 35's at around 5.5" of lift and bushwacker flat flares on my new build. I'm sure I'll need a little more bumpstoping but should be just fine!

Bushwackers look better in my opinion.

I was leaning towards the flat flares but decided to go with the pocket flares for more clearance. I didn't think I'd have enough space with the flats. I'm really happy with the quality of the Napiers and recommend them over the bushwackers for the price. I know it wasn't your question but If you truly want more space then I'd say go pocket style. What size tire are you trying to clear? 33's would clear flats with your 6.5in lift easily

Napier flats about 5in of lift on 35s work great.

Thanks for the feedback everybody. I'm leaning towards the Napier flats, not for the price, but I think I get a little more clearance.

Did some flexing this weekend and didn't rub too much at all. But the Napiers will give room for possible 35's in the future.

Pics from sunday ...

Napier 1/4 fold flat flares. I am running 32's on 5". properly bumpstopped, they stuff nicely. i would have no issue running a 34 or 35s. 33's would be a perfect fit. He makes a full flare as well. Bushwacker does not offer a 1/4 fold option, so if you plan to do a 1/4 fold, go for Napier. Great customer service. i can stand on my flares and there is no give. On the rears, all i did was trim up to the "mini flare", and on the fronts, i probably took out average of 1.5" of sheet metal on the sides and maybe 3/4 on the top.

My understanding is that Napier no longer makes the flat flares. My buddy has them and inquired about getting replacements and he came up "no bueno". I cant find them on the interweb anymore, no website evidently. Kaputt?

Correct, not just the flares ... The whole jeep parts manufacturing end of it is now gone...Not profitable enough to keep it going... He headed in a different direction....

Wow, that's sweet... But say goodbye to your inspection sticker here in Pa. with that rig... One could only hope someday they'll see the light and let us loose with the toys...
