I love this thread. I had a quick question on this intake before I did it, I actually found that Spectre made a molded intake for this purpose and was wondering if the passenger might be sealed differntly or have any less flow because the heater core is over there. Heres a link to the intake:

wow great find that must be a new product. Very cool.

It would def be a good solution if you have ABS in the way where I did it. If you have room to run it where I did though I would go that route. The less distance traveled in the hot engine bay the better. Flow should be similar though..

Im with you Dukie, pretty sweet find

that is the way I want to route mine and it is cleaner looking that what I would of probably come up with.
though im not sure about the $200 price tag..

it seems like a lot of bends/welds for something manufactured..
would think that it would be more of a rounded 90 & 45 angles than a whole bunch of welds (tube bender could solve this pretty quick, i would assume)

still, its worth consideration if it works

I think the specter has been around for a little while. Or maybe that was the non-XJ model. IIRC there's a discussion about it & another one on NAXJA? Mind you, my memory could be faulty. I'll check my subscribed threads over there.

And yes, my nasty ABS fixins are still under the hood - like holding on to a pair of pants that will never fit again, LOL.

I dont have ABS so I am thinking to just do it the way you did because its cheaper and just as functional. I just wanted everyone's opinion before I had done anything, because patching a 3" hole in your fire wall is never fun lol.

What happens when you park you car and snow accumulates and then melts and water goes into the cowl?
