Default Muffler Help

My stock muffler has holes in it, and i need to go get the emissions test done soon. I really like the sound of the Flowmaster super 40 on the cherokee. I looked on their website. I do not know which size or which one to get. I thought the factory exhuast was 2.5" but i've been reading and it looks like the muffler is 2.25". I just don't know what to get. any help would be appreciated especially from people who have the Flowmaster super 40 on their jeep.

BTW the jeep is a cherokee with the 4.0 inline 6. I will be using all factory exhaust pipes and just replacing the muffler.

I believe you need a 2.25 Center in, Offset out to replace your stock muffler.

Just thought I would throw this out there if you are still contemplating what to get.

Dont make the mistake I did, get the center in, off-cetner out. I bought an off-center in and out...which makes it nearly impossible to run any decent tail pipe set up. One way it'll rub the driveshaft and the rotated 180 degrees it'll be pushed hard into the sub frame rails. Luckily I dont have emissions testing but I needed a tail pipe for an inspection so I made my own tail pipe that went under the gas tank and exited right under the rear hatch latch haha.

Yeah the one i posted a link for is the one I'm going to get. That Aero muffler sounds pretty good, but the price is a little steep for me.

Laying under the XJ and going for clamps is the easy part. Whats hard is cutting, or un-doing old clamps and the rust, dirt, mud, coming down getting in your eyes, hair, back of shirt and so on that part sucks! Then depending if the pipe wants to give old clamps break, saw doesn't want to cut and so on. But if you plan on doing it your self. All the guys above me know what there talking about. Good luck with it!

Anti seize EVERYTHING! My Dynomax cat back recently developed a hole when the bottom rusted through. I had to replace all the clamps as I snapped at least one bolt per clamp. I picked up another Dynomax 2.5 center in offset out as a replacement.

well shouldnt the center in offset out go right in? we just replaced all the clamps recently so they shouldn't be a big deal.
