Default msd ignition boxes?

i have been playing with the idea of putting a msd 6al on my 90 Cherokee but my coil is that all in one b/s. they tell you where to put tie wires in to. but has any one changed the coil to a two pole coil and it run just fine. if i do it im going to do it right and change everything to msd. just thought i ask to see if any one has did it and if it was worth the money and time

I say go for it. I will eventually do it to my Xj but I plan on doing my Yj first iirc msd sells the proper coil for the jeep

If you have a renix, the stock ignition setup is solid. Cannot really get much better.

90 is still a "renix" which is pre-ODB EFI system.
What parts are you looking for? I've found pretty much everything I've needed for mine. May try searching 1989 vs 90?

Whoever told you parts are hard to find needs a throat punch. Every single part on a xj is available at any parts store.

A msd setup will be less reliable than the factory setup.

Parts are available at any dodge dealership, parts store, online parts shop... Not hard to find at all. Yes, you do have the AMC inline 6 with the RENIX engine management system. The ignition system on these motors is adequate, you probably won't see much gain, if any. I would suggest that you will most likely spend your money better elsewhere if you are looking to upgrade your Jeep.

oem parts are east to come by, its performance parts that's i'm trying to find. im planning on pull the motor in the next month or 2 after i got all my parts. i don't want to build a stoker. i just want to beef up that i can and get a little more low end out of the motor.

i like in sc and i camp on the boarder of sc and nc and the one trail i take to my camp ground there's a few spots where i need to use the winch to get up and over. if i had a bit more low end power i could get over with out the winch

i getting the COMP Cams Xtreme Energy 4x4 Cam and Lifter Kits CL68-231-4 and changing out my rocker arms as well.

im trying to track down foraged con rods and pistons that's not going to cost me an arm and a leg. most part numbers i find on line i can cross them at work and get them much cheaper most times. im going to bore it .10 over. any help finding im looking for would help

I've been around the REnix Jeeps since they came out in 87 . I have a 4.6 stroker on my engine stand, ready to go in, with the stock ignition stuff. These ain't small blocks......
