Default Mixing carriers and axles

I want to take the lockers out of my wrecked Jeep and put them in my new one. Almost identical Jeeps, same axles, same gear ratio.
It would be very easy to just swap the entire carrier with the lockers already into my new Jeep.
My concern is that the backlash/preload would not be correct. Is this true?

If it's likely that they will not mesh correctly I can take the lockers out it just takes longer.

If they are lunchbox lockers it would be easier to just swap the lockers out.

I agree. Take them out of the old one and install into the new and not worry about ring and pinion set up
