Default Master cylinder upgrade

Well on my trail rig I was having a lack of brakies. Well after some research I found out that the 78 Grand Marquis has a 1 1/8 bore. It just so happens that the fittings on the XJ will bolt up to it.

OK here is how it works.
YOu have to adjust the length of the brake booster about 1/8-3/16 to make sure you get full throw on the m/c.

It will physically bolt up to the booster.

Lastly since this MC is much bigger in width and length you will either have to try and make your stock lines work.... or get a tubing flaring set and do some double flairs. That is what I did, and yes It did take a lil bit of work, but now I am very happy with the way it turned out.

In 2wd I can lock up my 36" tsl's on pavement. On the trail my double lo can drive through it, but in single low it just about stalls the motor out.

This would be a great upgrade for anyone running bigger then stock disc brakes front and rear.

Seriously this is a simple swap if you know how to flair lines.

That reminds me, a buddies kept trying to double flare the end of a line that only needed the single flare. It was so funny, he tried 3 times.

Lesson: limit the consumption of alcohol while working on vehicles.

Getting the double flares right is a PITA, but with time and patience it can be done

Indeed. Especially troubling when you only need the single flare and you don't understand why its not working because your double flaring it.
