I was thinking about doing the same.. I'm hoping to avoid welding but I dont think theres a way to intsall a muffler and pipe without it.

I have a Thrush welded that is supposed to be a Chinese copy of a Flowmaster 40. Sounds great. The 2 1/4 slipped right over the stock pipe on my 2001 (OK, with a little help with a rubber mallet). I had to add a little extension on the back to make the tailpipe. Three clamps.

I would call the thrush turbo a poor mans magnaflow sounding muffler and the welded a poor mans flowmaster sounding muffler.
