I don't know how it broke really just a google image ,but ive read that the cast housing is weaker. I had a 90 xj with cad axle and never had it break but I would rather have a less complicated ( new seal and axle and everything else )axle and just pick a hp out of a jy like I did to get rid of the lp. So I just said I wasn't convinced it is stronger. But very well could be.
