A turn down is a must and is acceptable
Id run a short length ofnpipe from the cat to a turndown near the rear axle

I run a Cherry Bomb and am happy with it. Got the longest one I could fit. More length = deeper sound. Don't remember what I paid for it, but it was under $40. Not for everyone, though, some people just don't like the sound, and sometimes they can drone at certain speeds. The way I see it, at under $40 if you don't like it, you aren't out a pocketful...

Some people say that the Thrush makes it sound like a ricer, mine doesn't. It is louder than stock but much quieter than no muffler and has a good low rumble (as good of one as a straight-6 can have) @ 1,100 rpm. I mainly bought it because I am low income and it was cheap and I had to have a muffler. I couldn't afford a 44. But, it sounds good to my ears and mine doesn't drone. Maybe I just got lucky.

If you want loud go shorter. 10" is good. If you really want that kick *** sound your lookin for heat the glasspack with a torch and dunk it in water, reapeat. This helps loosen the packing. Once broken in glasspacks are the mufflers of pimps, gangsters, and old school hot rods.
