There probably will be some places and with a 3.5 lift ive heard u can get by without a track bar so itd just be shocks and check out 4wd they have discounts all the time on various products and serious offroad has good prices as well

I'm not sure what backspacing they are but I don't see why they wouldn't work with a 4.5" lift. I might have to get wheel spacers eventually, but I don't need them right now if I'm relatively careful with my turning. If you went with a 3.5" kit, you're right, you can always bump it up to 4.5" for really not that much money.

I was just thinking the high backspacing number might put a lot of stress on the joints from what I've heard from all this research.

Default Update, update, update!

Okay guys. I've narrowed it down (haha yeah right). First off, I'm still deciding between 15x7 or 15x8 wheels, but I've decided for sure on 31s (not sure what brand or aggressive A/T or M/T yet though). As for lifts, I'm going to list a lot. I have a lot of questions and I am going to number them for better feedback from yall. I will never spend the money to go any higher than a 4.5" lift, so I am looking at 3, 3.5, and 4.5. Please tell me exactly what the lifts are leaving out and what I will need to/should buy because I really don't know every single component involved in doing a suspension lift. Also, if I have vibes, I will be installing an SYE kit to do it right, but I'm only going to order that if and only if I have vibes. I want either full rear leafs for the back, or leafs and shackles. NO AALs for me. I also definitely want quicker discos (so if anyone knows where to buy some cheap if they do not come with the lift, please lemme know)

I will be updating this post A LOT. Thanks again! Here we go!
---

1. Rough Country - 3" (cheaper option)
-$509.95 w/ Rear Leafs
-Steering Stabilizer - $28.95

2. Rough Country - 3" (more expensive option)

-$829.95

5. Rubicon Express - 3.5" (cheaper option)
-$459.99 (with deal savings)
-need RE1225 U-bolts: $??? (help me out)
-Steering Stabilizer: $??? (can I use Rough Country's??)
-Shipping: FREE
-NO shocks: $???

6. Rubicon Express - 3.5" (more expensive option)

-Steering Stabilizer: $35.00
-Adjustable Front Lower Control Arms:$60 (forged rubber end) OR $80 (forged flex end)
-Shipping: RIDICULOUS

---
Questions:
1. Can someone PLEASE help me figure out the price differences in the lifts of the SAME BRAND and SAME HEIGHT?
2. If I install an SYE kit on a 3 or 3.5" and upgrade later to a 4.5", will any modifications need to be done?
3. If I do not install the Tcase that comes with some of them, and have vibes, will I be okay riding for a few weeks until SYE arrives?
4. Should I definitely get adjustable control arms, and if so, help me identify if I am getting that with each lift please?
5. Can I mix parts form different brands?
6. Anyone know of some good cheap quick discos?

Screw Rusty's. Not really, but a ton of people don't like they're stuff.

If you install an SYE at 3/3.5" and you move up, no modification necessary to the best of my knowledge.

Just install the T-case drop. Takes 20 minutes tops.

Adjustable control arms are really up to you. I've got fixed, but some people like to REALLY dial in their axle.

Yes, you can mix different brands.

Whatever company you buy from, make sure you get the right u-bolts for your axle. Steering stabilizers are completely universal, so just go with whichever one you want.

For tires, I dont think you can go wrong with the Goodyear MTRs with kevlar. They have great traction off road, clear out well, pretty quite, and dont move around much on the road. Plus with the kevlar they are almost puncture proof

@Bzauche: (okay just realized your build thread has my favorite pictures ever! great photography man, i'm thinking of doing that in college too)

First off, yeah, forget Rusty's... just threw them up there for comparison... that shipping fee is a huge PITA. I hate to ask you to do even more, but can you compare both 3.5" RE lifts I posted with the Rough Country 4.5" ones?

I'd like your opinion here - what all would each lift need to make it COMPLETE, and possibly prices so that I can see which one really ends up being cheaper. Thanks so much.

Thanks for the compliments! Hopefully I'll have some updates in the next few days because I will be installing my new LCA's, double shear track bar, as well as servicing both of my differentials, throttle body, and transfer case!

Yes, I could compare them, but not tonight. Honestly, if you want the most complete kit, for a good price, the more expensive Rough Country 4.5" kit looks like it's the best fit. It has an upgraded track bar, brake lines, and UCA's; items which none of the other kits come with. Keep in mind, too, that the Rough Country kit comes with shocks. If you went with a Rubicon Express kit, you'd have to spend more money (probably at least $200 if you want halfway decent shocks). The one thing that the more expensive RC kit doesn't come with is a steering stabilizer, but you can grab one of those for under $50. Hope that helps!

I just did some crazy long research comparisons (well for me at least) on the cheaper RE compared to the more expensive RC. I'll share em with you soon but I need to sleep, and tomorrow and saturday will be filled with SAT studying and testing-woohoo! So I will most likely post Saturday night with my hopefully final two choices and pros and cons for yall to help me with. Thanks!

I'm interested in what you've come up with. I've been comparing the RE $459 kit with free shipping vs. the RC $609 kit plus shipping(which would be $69 to me in Nebraska) The plus to the RC kit is it includes shocks, on the other hand, it seems to be hit or miss on whether they are good shocks. Some have reported that they are very stiff shocks and build quality may not be great. Others say they are great shocks. I dunno. In total, there's a $220 price difference between the 2 kits with shipping factored in. I'd also need the RE u-bolt kit for the 8.25 rear which is $40. The RC makes no mention of whether it comes with u-bolts or it if they are needed. I'm still leaning towards the RE kit, the prce difference alon allows me to pick my own shocks or I could spend a little more and upgrade to Bilstein 5100 series.
