Default Longer drive shaft

I have a 4.5” lift on my 2000 XJ. It is currently running a stock driveshaft. It was recommended that I put on a longer drive shaft versus a slip yoke eliminator. Looking for suggestions.

At 4.5" of lift I had drive shaft vibrations so I put in a hack an tap and used a front drive shaft in the rear so I run the same drive shaft front and rear in my xj .It work great , but I don't do a lot of hard off roading mostly trail riding some hard stuff .

I am on 5" of lift with a SYE, 8.8 rear axle, and a front shaft in the rear. Works great, has been working great for over 5 years. Is especially handy to only carry one extra shaft when going out wheeling.

You will spend ~$400 to get a longer shaft made for the rear.

A SYE kit from Amazon will run you about $200. A used front shaft from an XJ should run you $50-$100. If you are able to install the SYE kit yourself, it is definitely a better, cheaper option.

I’ll check that out. I just noticed I have some vibration. I don’t do hard off roading as it’s my daily.

It isn't a longer driveshaft versus an SYE. You NEED both! But you need a different type of driveshaft than what comes on the rear of your XJ stock. You need a CV driveshaft after installing an SYE.

I'm not a fan of the hack n tap. I went ahead and got the full tail housing. Less work, less problems (in my opinion).
