Ok, guys and gals. I am wanting to eventually end up with 6" lift and 35- 37's no more than 12.50 wide. I have a Ford 9" in a truck lying around, 31 spline big bearing. My current setup is a 29 spline 8.25. I do not plan on any huge engine or anything, I actually plan on a really small diesel swap one day. Do ya'll think it's be worth buying new rims to put in the 9" or leave the 8.25 in it?

35s are pretty much the limit on a stock 8.25 and if you put a diesel in it it'll kill that axle with all the extra torque. You'll need to narrow the 9" since it's a good 6" wider and while you're at it you can change the bolt pattern since you're getting new shafts anyway.

X2. Unless your leaving the 9" full width and That would be silly unless your going full width up front. What do you have in mind up front?

what is under the front of this truck? a HP D44 would work for the front. It would be at its peak with 37's but would work without a bunch of abuse. and should be a good matching pair to swap in... unless its a TTB/IFS setup...

I was thinking a full width 44 under the front. And the diesel would be a 3.3L cummins from a gen set. If I do not go diesel it would be a propane 4.0.

35's is generally the cut-off on stock axles. anything above that would be wise to swap in some full widths, a 44/9" combo would be nice
