Default Long arm upgrade?

I知 going to buy a long arm upgrade kit soon but not sure what kind to get. Is a 3link or a 4link better for rock crawling? If you can explain why I would really appreciate it. Also I知 looking to spend NO more than $900

3 Link is fine for crawling. 4 link is better for faster stuff like in the desert.

3 link will allow the axle to flex more naturally whereas the 4 link (with panhard, sometimes called a 5 link) will inherently bind at extreme flex unless all 4 links are the same length and parallel (I think?).

4 link is stronger. Not that a 3 link needs to be super extra beefy to handle the torque, but some people don't get the warm-fuzzies knowing there is only one bolt keeping their axle from rolling out of position.

I'd run a 3 link and not look back. Bonus points if the link is on the driver's side to control the pinion angle during flex to keep the driveshaft u-joint out of extreme angles.

Good luck staying under $900.

Not disagreeing. I run a three link and it is much smoother in the bumps than a 4 link or Y link

i have StaangsFab longarms. send him an email. i'm sure he will ship to the U.S. he's in Canada, right near the Niagara border. he makes both, front and rear longarm setups and sold separately.
you don't get springs or shocks in any kit tho, just arms and crossmember, and Eric's are beef.

he specializes in XJ cherokee, and ZJ and WJ grand cherokee.

oh, and they're about 900 canadian, so that's what, like, 50 bux U.S? lol

Its worth noting the kit pictured is not a 3 link or 4 link, but a y-link aka radius arm setup.

Yes, don't waste your money with a radius arm setup....as outdated as running 4 shocks per corner

This is not a long arm kit. It痴 a radius arm kit.

Check out bkfabworks. They have a really nice 3 link kit. 3 link is better for almost everything except maybe desert racing. 3 link will allow more flex and less parts to wear out. I run a link link and love it.

The axle is out for an swap but you get the gist.

X2 on the BK fabworks suggestion, I've been thinking either them or CavFab for a 3-link in the future

I have a cav fab 3 link and it's done well. Customer support isn't great, but the products are awesome. Once I figured out where to get the bushings and what size the Johnny joints were I didn't really need customer service anymore. I've daily driven my Cherokee and it can cruise down the interstate one hand on the wheel straight as an arrow or cruise down trails at decent speeds. I've also abused it in the rocks with no failures other than worn out bushings.

those are the axle side bushings.

These are the Johnny joints. The small one is the axle side upper and the frames side 3 all are the big one. Not sure why the random box is there, but you can still see the part numbers.

Another BKFab fan here, I have their standard 3-link kit. Excellent customer service and high quality , heavy duty parts. I'll be getting their steering kit next.

I also needed to make the same decision. . Ended up choosing Cavfab 4 link. . They have a discount code - 10% off and free shipping. Good 'till 12am tonight.

Hope their setup is as good and many indicate.
