Default Long Arm questions

Hi everyone, I'll start by saying that I've done some searching but haven't found what I need, please feel free to post a link if you know a thread with this info in it.

I'm seriously considering upgrading to longarms this summer, but my XJ is only 3.5" over stock. I'm looking at two upgrade kits, RC and Serious Offroad, both of which kits recommend 4-6" of lift. I'm curious to know what problems I'd run into if I were to try to install either of these kits on less than 4" of lift?

Do the arms not have enough adjustment, or is there a clearance issue, or will there be no issue? I really want to uprade these short arms for both ride quality, offroad performance, and strength.

Does anyone have any input or experience with a similar situation? I've looked at some mid arm setups, but Id like to go long arm in case I decide to lift the Jeep more in the future.

Thank you in advance.

My kit will push the axle too far forward.

There is a build thread on here named Project Aussie by DrewHarper1900 I believe. He ran the Clayton Y link kit on a 3.5" kit. I run the same Clayton kit and love it. I am lifted about 4" and have stretched the front about 1-2" with no ill effects.

Perhaps someone would take an inch of tube off their kit for you to have less adjustability for lower hieght? Long arms hang much lower, I have given mine lots and lots of love on the rocks.

I've looked his thread over, and yours, a few times. I will have to check Clayton out.

Serious, would shortening the arms to accommodate a smaller lift be possible for your company? Would the price change if you could do that? Thanks.

Its not just shortening the arms. You will run into clearance issues depending on what arms you run. Just add a spacer upfront so you don't have to worry about it. Even with a 4" lift on long arms you should run limit straps. Not just so you shocks stay alive, they would also be so your steering doesn't bind up.

Look in to mid arms, not exactly bolt on but would be ideal for this lift Height

I think this might be what I do. I've been talking to someone on NAXJA that is running 3.5" ish lift and the RC long arms, and he says he didn't have any problems with clearance or pushing the axle forward.

I think I might just buy the kit, and add a small spacer if necessary.

Are there any specific companies that you recommend?

I have been looking at both o those kits. I don't understand why the kit only comes with a second arm if you select it as an option for 55 more dollars?

I need to do more research about mid arm set UPS.

The Dirtbound kit is designed as a 3 link set-up.
