Default lockers and snow driving

im wanting to put a mechanical locker in my cherokee but im still not sure on front or rear. but a friend told me its not that great to have one when you drive in the snow/ice. my jeep is daily driven and it does snow quite a bit where i live. any input on this? i was also thinking it might be better in the front only that way i wont slide around as much. but would that be not as desiriable off road? and no i cant afford a selectable locker. thanks.

Your friend is an idiot, I never had any issues driving in the snow with a full time locker in the rear of any of my Jeeps. The *** will not come around unless you really get on the gas an intentionally try to get it to come around !

IMO if the Jeep is driven on the street I would lock the Rear and leave the front open unless you go for a select-able locker like an ARB , ECTED, E Locker, or OX.

I run a rear locker and live in the Midwest. I've never had an issue driving in snow/ice/slush. You'll have to learn what you can and can't do, but after that, there's nothing to worry about.

I wouldnt say your friend is an idiot, if you stick your foot into it around a slow corner you might find yourself facing the other way (not that Ive ever done that ;-). dont put it in the front, on slippery roads with 4wd engage the front end can push straight under throttle since automatic lockers lockup under throttle.

just have to adjust your driving

I have done some light wheeling in snow with a front lunch box. No problems at all and it grabbed nicely.
