when buying a locker for the front of my 1997 cherokee what do i look for?
dana 30 locker with 27 spline?
http://motionoffroad.com/catalog/ind...products_id=34
and for the rear it would be this one right?
http://motionoffroad.com/catalog/ind...roducts_id=508
Should i put these type of lockers in the front and the back? or would this cause a problem for some reason?
Should i lock the front or the rear 1st? and why ? thank you.
As of right now it is a daily driver.
I have 31/10.50/R15 bfg km2s on it.
I am planning on doing a little rock crawling, mud, river/ creek crossing.

As long as you dont have abs that should be the correct locker for the rear. Need more info to answer the other questions. What size tires? What do you wheel and how often? Daily driver?

It looks to me like you have picked the right lockers. No 8.25 axle was used with ABS (I'm quoting a data base there). http://jeephorizons.com/tech/xjstockspecs.html
As to which to do first, I think that's a personal choice. My Cherokee came with an open front and limited slip in the rear so I put an Aussie locker in the front first. Even though my limited slip is tight, I'm still planning to lock the rear in the future. Mines not a daily driver (it is driven almost every day, but not to work) so I may spool the rear. There's allot of info on CF about the driving characteristics for locked front and rear axles. Have fun.

If it's a DD i recommend a locker up front and a lsd/posi in the rear, that's what i plan to do. That way i can get around town in 2wd and not have to worry about the axle locking up while accelerating in sharp corners, but still have that extra traction in 4wd (and 2wd) when i'm wheeling.

locking the front makes it turn like crap in a parking lot or other similar applications. get selectibles(eaton E, arb, ox ect...) or just go with the aussie rear if its a daily driver

I have LB's Front and rear. I can't really tell there is one in the rear. LSD's are as good as an open diff off-road IMO. they don't perform like a locker and cost more then a LB locker... (I have manual hubs so the front is not turning when in 2wd) but some say its clicks and unloads every once and a while, that wouldn't both me but it could bother you.
The front can be a pain for steering when off-road, gets stiff/binds. which is why I would recommend a selectable front, and lock it when you need it. I would reccomend a auto locker in the rear powertrax, aussie w/e you prefer. The selectable Eaton-E locker would be my #1, next the arb.
If you don't want to drop the $$ on a selectable lock the rear and see if you really need the front. If you do the save up for a selectable.

If your looking to get the aussie lockers just order them strait from their website. Dont mess with motion offroad. I ordered a track bar from them at the end of december and it took them over a month to ship it. Plus the lockers are cheeper on aussies website. As for front or rear, i would say rear. Thats what most people do and thats what im gona do. Im actually looking to get an aussie too.

I got my rear from www.knowwheretojeep.com If aussie doesnt have them, chances are no one has them. They go fast.
That being said. I locked the rear first, works great, to me when i need the most traction is when Im climbing. Where is all the weight when your climbing? Right, on the rear.
There is nothing like having both locked though.

I literaly just talked to Aussie today and they have not shipped in 6 months and have a waiting list like you would not believe. I would say get a Lock Right for the front and either wait on the rear or find a different axle to Lock.
