Honestly not worth it. Buy two 8.25s if anything.

Several issues with the D35. Some guys run 33s or even 35s. Just depends on how you drive.

Also, the D35 axles are held in by c clips, so if you break an axle your tire walks away.

Or you could just pull a spare D35 shaft from the JY, & bring it on the trail with you. Not hard to swap on the trail! Bring; spare shaft, gear oil, RTV, 8mm, 13mm, bottle jack, & star bar... done & done

I do play in it a lil bit to. Thanks for the advise tho. I'm already calling a buddy that owns a junkyard(salvage lol) to find me something better. But the d30 isn't bad? It will get the job done on rocks. I got 32x11.50's

Some D35s are non C clip, but rare! All 8.25 axles are C clip.

84-89 are non C clip. 1990-2001 are C clip axles.

D30 isn't great, but it will hold up better than a D35!

I would say throw a lockright, aussie, or spartan locker in your Dana 30 and you will be good to go. You can get a lot of places with just a front locker. If somehow you do break it you can take the shaft out and still get out of the trail using rear wheel drive. If you have an 8.25 or Dana 44 rear you could put a lockright in that too, but I would not reccomend locking a Dana 35. I have seen people break them running 31" tires with a locker and the last thing you want is a broken rear axle when you're out exploring.

You mean drive shaft... not axle shaft... right?

What type of money are you talking about spending? that would make the choices of lockers as I personally don't like lunch box lockers. As far as what you were planning on doing with it i wouldn't bother with swapping axles IMO.

People say they see other's break a 35 with 31's but I say I see my buddy run 35" swampers and beat the living **** out of it and not break anything.....I guess it's a little luck and a little of how you drive.

no he means axle shaft! The hub holds the wheel on... stuff a rag in the axle tube, pull the driveline, & head home with your tail between your legs!
