Lockers
I've been on here for two days so hi everyone. Already this has been very helpful to me. I live in sw Missouri and we got sticky mud and rocks. What type of lockers should I get for my 1990 xj w the stock Dana axles? It's a street/trail rig that I got for finding good fishing spots. I love it so much I parked my equinox that's like brand new. Lol. N e way any help is wanted. Thanks y'all.

If you have a D35 most will say don't bother. If you have a D44, your much better off. The HPD30 you have in front is good.
Are you wanting selectable or auto lockers? What budget are you aiming for?
I have an ARB for my rear, and love it. But I'm an ARB ***** when it comes to lockers. There are other selectable lockers out there that are just as good, and cost less.

To buy, convert and install an 8.8 can be on the expensive side. Plus you will have to either re-gear the 8.8 or your D30.
If you can find a D44 or a C 8.25 they are a direct bolt in. You could probably find a C 8.25 with the same gear ratio as your D30 making it even cheaper.
You should be able to buy and lock a C 8.25 with a lunchbox locker for around $500.

What about a locker in front? Or do I need one? And what did Dana 44's come in? Or the 8.25 come in. That r a bolt up app.

Yep! So what kinda wheelin are you planning on doing? Most guys will tell you not to lock a 35, but if all your trying to do is find some good fishing spots you should be fine locking it! Granted you don't go over 31" tires. Just for mudding & some small to medium rocks you'll be fine. Granted there is a better market for lockers on the 8.25, & even more so for the d44!

Small axle shafts which tend to break under a lot of torque, which is what you get locking an axle, & getting the truck into a gnarly situation! Idk if they make a auto locker (lunchbox locker) for the d35, but if so I would recommend that as it can POP & release some tension at the moment the shaft might break! Tons of guys lock the 35 & wheel the **** outta them
