X2 I have a lunchbox in the front and it's a pita on snowy roads in 4wd.
All you can do is take it easy and it will get you to where you have to go np.

But off road it's great. I can get just about anywere even on stock tires lol

i think people make driving a lunchboxed front end in the snow a bigger deal than it really is. its not all that bad.

I drove with locked a front and rear all winter up here in CT, where we almost had record snow and two or three blizzards around 20". I never got "pulled" and never came close to sliding off the road or anything like that. like mentioned, just don't drive like an idiot

Well since my first car of 5 years was a geo metro, my xj is like a Cadillac to me. (even rides like one now that i got my lift and bilstein shocks.) So i'm pretty easy on the skinny pedal.

K I read on Powertrax web site that if you have a full time 4x4 (mine is a NP242) you shouldn't lock the front. Is this correct? or does it even matter.

Yep, I agree. I wouldn't lock my front unless its fully selectable if I had full time 4wd.
