Default Limited slip selectable locker?

I read somewhere that someone offers a selectable locker that's a limited slip when not locked but can't find anything on it. At the time I wasn't interested and let it slip on by but now I'm interested if anyone knows about it.

I think the Auburn ECTED is still around, which is LSD with a pseudo electric locker, just a tighter LSD really, supposedly doesn't work very well with bigger tires (too much rotational force)

Used to be a true dual-mode device called the Detroit Electrac, no longer made, still find them on ebay every once in a while

Saw a TJ in Moab with a pair of them.
the guy was pissed that he invested so much and his axles wouldn't lock.

We talked about 'em and he finally saw the light when I explained that the ECTED DOES NOT mechanically lock the axles together.

Buyer beware.

and also with the ected, if you spin tires in LS mode it wears it out and makes it "looser" making the "locking" action less tight and worthless.

Thanks guys. From some searching it seems that the ECTED might be ok with a max of 35" tires and not too heavy of a rig. Two fairly good reviews showed one guy who loved them and one that was replacing them a couple times a year till he gave up, the latter was on 37s. Some of his stopped locking and some wouldn't unlock. Auburn was good about warrantee replacements but when the guy gave up they wouldn't refund him and he was pissed. Haven't searched on the electrac assuming that if they were good they'd still be making them, but I'll have a look around just in case.

It would be a great thing to have if there was a reliable one available.

Nope.
Ran them in my last rig (D44/D44) and the new rig is getting one up front as well. Rear will be a Detroit Locker since Eaton does not make one for the GM 14bolt.

So I speak from experience...Eaton Elocker FTW!

I rather not have to pull out a diff and send it in for a warranty replacement,Because every time you do that you gotta re set up the gears and shims.I rather buy it once and install it once and pray i never break it lol.

This time I agree with Frank and not Andrew I like the E-Lockers over the Air-Lockers just because of the air issue "only" less plumbing.

That said I'm using Full Case Detroit Lockers but after a discussion with Frank now I like the idea of a selectable for the rear 8-). Only issue is the air/electric not working when needed for some reason.

If the wires break in the field you can always rig something to get you out. That is much harder if the air line snaps. Hell you could pull chassis wiring if you were screwed enough.

Carry a piece of tubing and a pair of push locks and the airline isn't a huge issue, but I agree that less stuff between you and the diff is better. Bigger problem is if the compressor craps out.

Maybe you could BLOW hard enough into the air line for it to work 8-( lol.
