I have sort of been on a swap all my lights for leds lately. Got to turn signals, and had to buy load resistors, (a small pain). But when I went to replace the front signals, the led bulbs dont wanna seat in there
I compared the new and stock ones, the little nubbies that slide in on the tracks inside the socket are in the right position on the correct sides.
I am thinking that the lip around the top of the led is stopping it from going in that tiny bit, so I cant rotate it into place.
Im pretty sure this is only going to make sense to anyone who has tried it, but if you have any ideas, I would love to hear them, thanks

where did you buy them from? A friend of mine but them into his and he went through www.superbrightled.com for the bulbs and resistors and they talked to him and worked with him on his issues. If you bought local then bring back to where you got them from. I hope that this helps you.

yeah, I got them off of ebay, I might have to send them back, or do some filing on the edges, not sure which yet. I might be better off just getting the same brand your friend did. Its super annoying to have a hangup on a such a small thing... changing a stupid bulb, but when you got it all ready to go and had to drill out a stripped screw etc. its more frustrating...

are you sure it's 1157 and not 1156? 1156 wont work in the front. one tab on the 1157 is higher where 1156 they are the same height.
i just swapped nearly every bulb in my xj to led. bought them all off ebay.

1156 amber rear turn signal
1157 amber front turn signal
you need amber t10's for the front side markers, white t10 for license plate, red t10's for rear. there is 50 freekin bulbs in the rear tail lights.
my dash used t10's and t5's. i put in red leds. the only one that doesn't work well is the ac control panel. i will switch it back to incan bulb till i find a reason to buy a white t5 led. i had to use incans for the dash blinker indicator and high beam indicator. i was fortunate and didn't need resistors for my blinkers to work. i have led bulbs front and rear and they blink just fine. maybe my 23 year old wires have enough resistance in them to offset the led.
i recommend using SMD led's. the 5mm type are not as bright, IMHO.

yeah, I got a pair of 11 56, and 11 57. the rear is single contact, and the front is double, but they look identical to the stock ones when Im staring at the base of each one. I think its just a crappy bulb, or one thats a teeny tiiiny bit off, but neither bulb would seat in either side. When I looked tho, the new bulbs dont have the 1156/7 stamped on them, just the package, maybe they gave me a wrong one. studied the little guys pretty close for while tho.
Thanks for all the numbers wildcat, that helps a ton when you try to find these things, Already too much time and effort for the job, so ima just get some new ones

I could take some pics of the lights at night, but it would not be that impressive. or do you mean the actual bulb in the socket rooster?
For me it was knowing it was a change to almost no power draw and no heat. I really like the led reverse lights tho, even with the window tint, they're nice and bright. (usually other people tell me my lights are bright).
put in some silverstar headlights, and really like them. the projector lights were a big disappointment, except when everything is covered in snow...
