So I got a 20 inch led light bar. I already have two offroad lights mounted on my bumper, and I'm rather fond of that.
I was thinking of different locations where I can mount the light bar. I saw a JK that had a 40 inch light bar mounted on top of the windshield. That looked a bit cool. I also saw a couple of pictures of a Cherokee with a 30 inch light bar mounted across the cowl panel.
Then I also read about people saying it was bad idea because the light will shine on the hood and making it brighter to look out of the windshield.
What about the location on top of windshield? Will it reflect on the hood? Any real-time experience with both locations? Pros and cons?
Tips or hints on the installation?

This is what I did with my light bar because I did not like the idea of placing on the roof or cowl or anywhere else for that matter.
It is protected and safe behind the bumper!

I mounted it to the frame behind the bumper, cut a hole in my bumper, and welded some steel mesh flush with the face of the bumper and painted black.
It is out of the way, protected from brush, and people wishing to steal it.
I also wired it into a factory fog switch with an inline relay.
Hope this gives you another idea!

How about as a hood ornament? On the header where the 'jeep' logo is....
You have a hoop on the bumper. will it fit under that?

Steve, how thick was your light bar? From the front to back? When I got it I was surprised that its around 2.5-3 inches thick. Because of the huge heat sink behind actual led lights.

My 20" bar mounted in bumper, scatters a lot of light down onto the road in front. I would not want that shining on the hood or windshield. I believe your LED is similar, being combo-beam spot-flood.
BajaDesigns 'stealth' has a spot lens and would be more fitting for roof-cowl mount because it focuses better, less scatter..and pricey $579. 20"

They use h7 halogen bulbs but I found some h7 led lights that suit my needs perfectly and give me the all LED front end that I wanted...
The led lights I got aren't as bright as HID... I bought 3 different HID kits that wouldn't work... I could never get the high beams to work... I found the LED lights and figured if try them and they are awesome!
