Lebaron Hood vents and Snorkel
Fellow XJers,
I'm debating on installing the Chrysler Lebaron hood vents and would like to eventually install a safari Snorkel. Does any see any possible problems here? I can assume if I am ever submerged up to my windshield that water would enter through the vents, would this be an issue? If I didn't have the vents and installed the snorkel wouldn't water still reach the same places?
Any experience with this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The only problem I'd see is maybe water getting to your distributor in much more quantity than If it was just coming from the fan but if the water is that deep it would be coming from the bottom too? But if installed right the snorkel would still be an isolated area that would still seal out water anyway. Do you know how too "waterproof" your distributor?

Okay, thank you. Exactly why I asked, incase someone's prior experience could shed light on an issue I had overlooked. And I realize the engine does not stay dry in the rain, but there is a difference between rain and submerged.

I just swamped my xj a couple weeks ago (still tweaking things that stopped working because of it) thank god the water stopped the distributor before it hydrolocked but here's a really good video for "waterproofing" a distributor of course the best it can be. Other than that as long as seals on vital items l, the hood vents shouldn't be to bad but I would not recommend them for water submerging. Here's the video
good luck!
