Default Leaf springs not setteling on plate

Just added 3.5" leaf springs from RE, but the nub on the bottom doesn't fall into the hole on the plate. Therefore, its not flush with the axle. Ive come to the conclusion that the nub is too big, so i just tightened the u-bolts anyway. Is the vehicle still safe to drive?

Yup, drilled mine out just a touch. I think I ended up with a 5/8" bit because I couldn't find a 9/16

Is the center pin really too big or is the axle at an angle causing it not to go in?? I would be hesitant on drilling out the plate because that is what makes your axle alignment true.

You have to drill the plate, its in the instructions. Do not drive it like that.

Don't go oversize. If you lose any tension on the ubolt, it will slip every time you brake or accelerate causing a clunk and wallowing out the hole.

Too late!

Why does RE use these oversized center pins?

They probably forgot to account for the thickness of the paint.

So if it was the paint, hypothetically i could sand it off the pin and it would fit?

They are intentionally over sized. The stock centering pins have been known the shear off road. It's even in the directions to drill them out.
