No matter your height you are at least sitting good a level. I'd much rather a stock XJ that sits perfecrly level than a 2", 3", whatever and have a rake.
Didn't measure anything. Because they are brand new springs (not even 1 month old) and a Teraflex 2" budget boost installed. The rims are 16" GC rims with 235/70r16 (these Coopers measured out to 29.75 actual). I wasn't aiming for any real lift gains, just a mild, comfortable height and look, that's all.

But, all 4 springs are the Crown HD from Morris 4x4.

I already bought wheel spacers (1.5") and 3" BB. I have 255/75 R17 tires that are on 17" JK rims. I decided to replace the leaf springs since I will get my hands dirty.
So now once I purchase the stuff in the attached pic I will get to work.
What do you guys think? Any suggestions before I make the final purchase?
Open to any suggestions or tips that you might have.
Thanks in advance
I'm assuming the budget boost is complete with shackles. You'll probably want to trim or cut metal with that much lift and 32s.

Not to burst your bubble, but a 3" Zone lift probably would have been a better buy. I'm sure this will work fine for you, but a 3" puck is rather large for my liking.

I have a "2 inch" lift sort of. Old Man Emu 930 coils with Rancho 1.5" leaf springs and IRO adjustable shackles. I was inspired by another guy on here who runs this spring combo with 30s. My shackles are currently at the "stock" height setting but can go up 3/4" if desired. I may do that in the future, add a 3/4" spacer up front and run 245/75r16s instead of the 235/75r15s I'm running now.

It is unbelievable that it has been over 3 months but I finally got done with the Jeep. I did so many other things to it included but not limited to changing rocker panels, a paint job etc and so many other things here and there. I am very satisfied with the end result here.

They rub on the mud flaps big time but it should be OK. I really like how the flaps look so I will deal with sharp turns/backing ups.

Wow, that is probably the most beautiful xj I've ever seen! Great job Oz E. I'm wondering if you could detail the exact parts that you ended up using and maybe include links with it if you still have them? Thanks for your time, I'm trying to make mine look exactly like yours

Thank you for your kind words! I sure love my XJ. It has been a long dream and believe it or not but this is exactly hoe I pictured it in my mind for years now. It is a true joy.

So here are the main parts as I added so many other things which you can find at a local junkyard. Let me remind you tho this is a hot truck and parts at junkyards do not last long so you may end up doing tens of visits like me.

Shocks - https://www.quadratec.com/p/quadrate...ep-wrangler-tj
Running boards -

Leaf Springs -

Lift kit (I ended up using shorter schakles as these made the truck too high up for my liking with the lift leaf springs) -

Wheels and tires - I got them off Craigslist for $400

Again there are tens maybe even close to a hundred other items such as paint, Bondo brand body related things, trailer hitch, bolts, tools etc but the above ones are the main items I would say.
I thought about recording myself and uploading it to youtube but there are so many useful videos that people can refer to so instead I tried enjoying the process and I sure did.
Let me know if you have any specific questions.

Cheers!

Thanks so much for the detailed response! I wasn’t sure if I’d get one because this thread is a bit dead lol. I’ll be sure to check out all of those links and post about how it all turns out! Probably won’t be till after all this crazy corona virus stuff

So my wife bought me this wonderful cherokee for Xmas, and Im wondering how to fix the trim. It is coming off in parts, the clips(?) have failed. I know most will say remove it, but I like the look of this jeep above, so how to reattach?

Old thread so I may not hear anything but being a noob, I'm catching up on my reading.

I would only want a 2" lift on my XJ. I'm old and I am assuming people don't re-arch their leaf springs anymore? Or maybe that's a no-no?

Back in the early 90's I had an '88 with every option on it except limited slip rear diff and I believe it was called Off-road suspension? Anyway, it was supposedly 2" taller than a stock XJ. Being that I worked for TRW at the time, I got out my spring spec guide and determined which front springs I needed to provide the 2" of lift I wanted. Then I took the leaf's to a customer that made leaf springs and he re-arched mine them to give me the 2" in the rear. I can't recall if he added a leaf or not. He may have. I do remember him putting the springs on a press of sorts to put some arch in the individual leaf's.

I drove that Jeep like that for over 100K miles without any issues.

Oh, and I also replaced the rear diff with a posi unit. The only time I had to have a car towed to a shop. Apparently I was close but I had it shimmed just a little tight cuz once it got a little warm, it started making noise. The guys at the shop said that all it needed was a slightly thinner shim. So I will try again next time the opportunity presents itself.
