Default Leaf sprinfs

I got 5.5 inch rear lead springs from re. Do I need new longer u bolts or can i re-use the old hardware ?

It's not a good idea to reuse u bolts because they stretch and most times you'll kill the threads trying to get the bolts off if you can even get them off. But if all you're using is the springs and not a block stock length should work just fine.

A big x2!! Never reuse hardware! Especially not the suspension!

Sorry guys but you're mistaken on the leaf spring bolts.

They are metric Grade 12.9 and are under a slight tension load when installed.

Re-use if they are not too rusty.

WHAT?!? If even part of the crest of those FINE threads are gone, you've lost a large amount of capacity. Fine threads create a lot more holding power with less effort, the drawback being they strip a lot easier. Don't cheap out, USE NEW ONES.

I never reuse bolts in suspension I rather spend $32.00 on new Ubolts than risk breaking a Ubolt and having an accident

There seems to be 2 different arguments going on. First is leaf spring bolts. Reuse isn't a problem. Second is U-bolts, get new. The new springs are most likely thicker anyway.
