Default Leaf center pin

Picked up an 8.25 from a friend of mine the other day from his Xj that he rolled. when I got back I noticed the center pins were broken off in the leaf perch; one flush and one with about 1/8" above the perch. Anyone ever drill these out? Looking for the best course of action to take.
Thanks.

Replace the bolts. Hammer them out since they're not threaded and insert new. Be sure to clamp the spring so it doesn't fly apart.

Hacksaw the old ones.

X2. Clamp the leaf springs together then hammer the pins out with a punch.

That's the problem, I've already knocked them loose with the punch and hammer but when they drop down through the perch they sit on the tube and are wedged between the perch and the tube.

sounds to me like carefully drilling out is your best option. Also be sure to use new u bolts when putting the axle on your jeep, they're one time use items.

Wait, I'm confused. You have them out of the leafs but somehow managed to get them wedged in between the perches and tubes? They can't be in there that tight. Keep hammering.

the head of the pin broke off in the perch and he hammered the heads down into the perch to knock them out the bottom, but there isn't enough room between the perch and axle tube.

The pin isn't from my leafs, they from the ones that were on the xj the axle came from.

Bingo. Figured it'd be my only option.
