LCA Mini skids who made'um and who bought'um
Had a great weekend of wheeling but got hung up on a rock with my front diff. Upon further inspection when I got home a put a pretty good hurtin on my axle side LCA mount. The conclusion is that I need some mini skids. I have the steel some pretty thick sheet metal hanging around and I have a welder, but for 20 something bucks do I just order the JKS ones? What are you guys running? Pics would help immensely.

I do like how the JKS ones tie in to the axle tubes I feel that that is where it would get its strength. I would like to replicate that if i make my own.

I have JKS skids. The only drawback is, for the control arms to drop down for adjustment the axle must be rotated for the joint to clear the skid.
I used sections of shock boot on the sides of joints when installing arms (picture). Helps keep sand and salt spray out. The potential problem with this is, what does get in there stays there.

I run JKS as well. When you install them weld the inside of the factory LCA brackets to the axle as well.

Or just go by lowes/home depot (I think they carry 3/16" flat bar) and make a couple if you don't want to buy the JKS ones. That's what I did; only b/c I was in the shop one night and made them before I thought to look and see if anyone made them; lol.
the real issue are the weak-***** brackets in the first place. Just don't think an overkill skid will save them. I may just cut mine off this year and weld on some heavier ones.

Question for you, on the stock bracket did you put a small bead of weld on the inside of the bracket. Ive been told it's a good idea, I'm just getting info before I put mine on
