Default Largest, safest spark plug gap for 4.0?

Obviously a larger gap means a larger spark which can burn more fuel thus more power right? with an aftermarket ignition does anyone know how far you can gap the plugs before you could cause damage to the pistons, rings, cylinder wall, ect? currently at .042 with no problems.

Are you running an aftermarket ignition? Did you change your compression or fuel/air ratio? Pretty sure stock spark gaps are .035" unless you changed other stuff and need a larger spark, id leave it at that.

This. Unless you have high energy aftermarket ignition or a different compression ratio than stock there is no advantage whatsoever to increase the gap and doing so will just put more strain on you coil.
