Regarding the ebrake cables? Yes. Forgot about that post.
You've used these cables successfully on your conversion?

I haven't myself but was parting out a similar conversion and ran across them though you may not have found them.

Not sure which way to go at this point. I'm going to mock up the disc/drum assembly to confirm there is room for the ABS sensor. Then I'll decide from there.

toasterknight, I did some further investigation on the cables. It appears my XJ will use two of the long cables (70") does this sound right?

After much deliberation its obvious that the ABS and parking brake options cannot live in the same house. partly because the pass through hole for the sensor removes the brake shoe seat.

A few extra mods were needed to accommodate the sensor. First the sensor bracket needed to fit flush against the backing plate. So the backing was removed from the caliper bracket by punching out a steel pop rivet.

Next the backing plate was flattened for the sensor bracket.

The hole for the sensor cable is right where the brake shoe seat is located.

To properly align the sensor with the wheel I squished the bracket.

Here you can see the modified sensor bracket and the cable hole location. I used the longer KJ studs with the exception of the original short stud under the sensor. A shorter nut was also used to clear the sensor.

To accomodate the brake line bracket I drilled and tapped for a mounting bolt. To capture the chips a shop rag was clipped to a pair of hemostats. And I added a magnet from a computer hard drive to grab the chips. This worked great and caught all but the few stuck to the hole exit.

The finished assembly

Some clearance problems with my old style steel wheels.

Just needed to grind off a little metal

Blend the angles.

And paint.

Does she stop better? YES! My butt-o-meter says that this was worth the effort, money and two days.

I did this swap about 3 years ago and it was one the best things I've ever done on my xj.

I am assuming since there was issues with old steel wheels, a set of factory ecco wheels will not work at all. I am running spacers if it was just backspacing that was the issue.

When I do this I will be doing the ebrake. I don't have abs to begin with and I like sliding around way too much to be without my slide handle.

Who are you talking to. I just said I was doing the e brake and then your reply is well gibberish. What I could get from it is completely unrelated to brakes.

I'm agreeing with you in a general statement to everyone.

Why does everyone get personal on a forum.

Current political climate. Everyone is attacking each other and it has spilled over here. According to the Internet I'm scum. I guess I've gotten so tired of being attacked I see it everywhere.

Or just the "guts" of the valve which is 1,000 times easier.
