I've got a set of 4 KC 69 series lights up top. They are long range lights so they are a very focused beam and SUPER bright. I highly recommend KC lights several of my friends have them and have never had problems or anything out of them.

Are the Black Magics worth the extra money? They are about $30 more for what just a black lens? All of the tests I have seen the Hella 500ff throw a longer light than the Black Magic. They do look awesome though.

Imo, a light is a light and as long as the housing is solid and the lens is sealed, you should be fine with either brand. Have you considered a generic replica for less money?
For the window frame lights on my TJ, I bought some el cheapo long range lights from amazon and swapped in 100w bulbs for a fraction of the cost. They are the same size as KCs, and constructed the same. I eventually ditched the generic plastic covers and put on some KC light covers. You'd never know the difference, for as often as I take off the covers or wheel at night.
When I get the rack built for my XJ, I plan to use 4 of the same. On a trail if I break them, I'm out about 100 less than the KCs and they work every bit as good.
Just food for thought.
Pay no mind to the crushed fender and bent tie bar... lol
