I installed a set of really nice leather WJ seats in mine both fronts then sat in the drivers when all bolted down........Only to find that it sat up too high for me my head hit the roof even when reclined a "LOT". I'm 6'4" and 325# these seats would have been great if I were only a couple of inches shorter.
At the JY look at the V8 GC's for a good tie rod setup also direct bolt-in and 10x stronger than the stock XJ only 3 pcs. long tie rod/short tie rod end and the sleeve.

I put the rear seat from a WJ in my 2000 XJ. Kids can't ride in the back without headrests, so it needed to be done.
After seeing how much more comfortable the backs are than the stock XJ seat, I'm definitely thinking about going back for the fronts too. UNLESS they're going to sit me up too high. I'm 6'3," so maybe I should just leave well enough alone?
I'm pretty sure the answer is "no," but, does anyone know if the WJ seat heaters are plug-n-play with XJ power heated seats? Having a functional bun warmer again might outweigh the annoyance of rubbing my head on the headliner.

I would hold off for an OEM header panel. The plastic ones are flimsy and the surface is questionable for a smooth paint job. High build primer may help.

That tie rod is a good upgrade too.

I had to buy a cheap one because mine got stolen, I bought one from harbor freight. The biggest one they had, 1/2" drive. It's done the job so far. Took out front leaf spring bolts, and broke some stuck lug nuts free.
1000x yes. Just did the swap myself. They sit a bit higher and I actually like that. It felt like I upgraded my suspension by putting these in.
Make sure you get the 6-way adjustable or full manual. If you get 10-way you'll need to wire in power for the recline like I did. Not that hard really. Just something to think about.

Yeah, I got a 25" breaker bar from HF and it has been fine so far. The handle was smooth and slippery, so I added some hockey tape to it for grip.

Do you have more info or pics on how you wired them up? I've got 10-way power seats out of a 99 WJ and I'm trying to sort out the wiring for the recline right now. The motor has a 3-wire connector and a 2-wire, and I haven't figured out how to get it to work yet. I'm guessing the 2-wire connector has constant 12V power and the 3-wire has switched power to tell the seat to go up or down?

You'll only use the red and black. Red is constant 12v, I used a vampire biter clip thingy (I don't know the technical term) and tied it into the cigarette lighter, then ran the ground to the stud for the airbag controller (which isn't there anymore). The wire tucked under the center console nicely.
The passenger side is the same except less wires in the harness and your 12v is red with a blue stripe. Since there's no airbag controller stud on that side, I just ran out to the seat bracket bolt.
I used zip ties to tie all the excess harness up to the seat so it would get caught up on anything.
Oh and if you got them use a blade connector on the 12v wire so if you have to take the seat out you don't have to snip it.

yes they really are that comfy.
And no, from my extensive searching through every forum and thread that even mentioned it, it is not feasibly possible to use the built in seat warmers. They run through the ecu.

Vampire the stock harness? uh-oh
The cigar lighter flows limited amps. Are you guys installing heated seats? Also, is the amp rating for the seat motors known?
I'm sure it will be OK for normal use. But run both motors on both seats at the same time, there might be trouble.
On my 1996 there is an 'ACC' port on fuse panel that is switched power. Top right of panel in driver footwell.
