It this a Johnny joint?
Hello,
I bought a Cherokee with an adjustable trackbar (previous owner says it is RE), and the heim joint at the top is a female end and looks an awful lot like a johnny joint. (Currie has female johnny joints PN: CE-9112RE). The only thing I see weird is an allen screw that is really small on the outside of the joint, and a weird collar looking spacer on the far side instead of the 2 washers as shown on curries site. Can anybody clarify? Idc if I have to just buy a whole new one, but I would rather press in new guts if I can figure out what is what here. Thanks for any help!

-Uniball measures 2" out to out
-Has a snap ring and washer like johnny joints
-Image 3 shows the back side, the part that confuses me

That's a RE superflex joint. It can be rebuilt easy and cheap. Call RE or any RE dealer for parts. The side with holes is made for the special RE spanner wrench tool.
Ok so my next question, do I need that spanner wrench to disassemble? I guess what I'm asking is if it is threaded onto that side? I can make a tool to get it off if it is threaded. Is this worth rebuilding, or would the currie joint be a better joint? Or are they pretty much the same?

yeah it just threads off. I removed it by vicing it, then angling a punch and hammering it loose. I rebuilt the joint, it was cheap, and heald up great with no problems. do whatever is cheapest I see no real advantage to giving currie your money over this. I can't remember what the little allen is for tho
is that one really clapped out? looks ok-ish to me

Thanks for the info. I will end up just using a punch most likely to try tightening it first. Either way, I will be buying the spacers and I'll run it until the new ones come. It is pretty bad, makes a lot of noise and you can visually see a lot of movement when steering is applied. It also gets the wobbles over any bump and seeing as I did all bushings, tie rod ends, wheel bearings, control arm bushings, and ball joints, it must be that movement allowing improper axle movement. I also did the C-rock brace, One ton steering, etc. I just donated this trackbar off my newest jeep to my DD. I'm replacing and rebuilding as I go, kinda in the middle of a SYE and the steering at the same time. .
I used a punch and tightened her all up. The allen holds the outer ring from rotating and coming loose. Time will tell how long it lasts me, but new races are on order regardless.. Now back onto that SYE for me....
