Wow for the housing to crack and shatter like that someone did something really stupid or the one who rented it last did and the mechanic didn't do a good job of inspecting it afterwards. Like u keep getting told my AMC 20 is junk but its taking a heck of a lot more abuse than my buddies with other axles and had less problems. But it also gets inspected and serviced regularly.

Imo its a must for any jk on 35s and larger who actually wheels.
But, also remember, that a jk os MUCH heavier than an xj. So the problems of the axles in a jk may not be much of an issus in your xj

Wow. i dont care how much the jeep weighs, if it is shearing like that its an axle problem not a weight problem. I just googled it and with all the **** i found i would not swap one of those in ever.
I have watched numerous full size trucks (weigh alot more then Rubi's) on the trail with front dana 44's and GM 10 bolts, beating the **** out of them and jumping/bouncing like a son of a *****-never have i watched a housing or axle tube do that. Shafts, hubs, carriers, pinions, u-joints, axle brackets, but never the housing itself.
Im going against what i said earlier, i wouldnt run that axle.
