Default Jeep Cherokee Vibrations

1992 Jeep Cherokee 4x4 4.0 Auto 231 Transfercase

5 inch lift and 1 inch transfer case drop.

recently replaced the transfercase due to 4x4 not working. 4x4 works now but noticed some noise from the front end, clicking noise in 2wd and 4wd while driving, thought it was u joints so I replaced all u joints but did not replace the center yoke (seemed to be okay so didn't replace) noise was still there. Took the shaft out and noise is gone. Put the driveshaft back in and Jacked up all 4 and listed for the noise sounded like it was close to the transfer case. Thinking it might be that center yoke ball? It didn't have any slop though, can they still make noise if evertlyrhing seems tight? Not sure what else it could be..

I do have adjustable uppers and lowers, angles seem to be okay, sye would prolly help, pinion bearings could be the issue, but would the bearing cause clicking noise? I'd think it would be more of a whirring, maybe not idk..

I'm assuming that all your u-joints are adequately greased.

could be in the t-case still

with the front shaft out, the output can spin freely, so anythign that may be making enough contact to 'click' would just spin the output

put the shaft in, and now there is extra weight/drag, so the contact that spun the output shaft now will click instead of spin

You should double check your front pinion angle. It should be at least 6*, but 7* or 8* are ok. It is measured from the center flat of the diff.
