So my jeep xi with rear drums it dosent stop the greatest and when at a stop and pushing and releasing the breaks to check for sounds I can hear like a metal cable pulling sounds from rear drums is this bad drums and from in the dash when jeeps in drive at a stop there a chirping sound just started a couple of nights ago need help???

 

Pull your rear brakes apart and inspect it all closely, as for the chirp.....could be just about anything, but id start by putting your hand on the transfer case shift lever and see if it stops, thats a really common squeeky chirpy noise in XJ's

 

Gonna look at the drums but the chirp only happens when applying the break at a certain point

 

Sounds like something might have came loose inside the drum.

 

Tommorow gonna change the oil with mopar oil filter motor has slight knock 2 Lol trying different filters and figure oem jeep is usually the best and gonna check the brakes 2.
