Default Jeep 258 Intake on a 4.0?????

Hey guys ive been doin some research on stroking the 4.0
everyone is saying if you use the crank and rods from a 258 in a 4.0 you end up with a 4.6. I found myself a parts 258 for $50 bucks on craigslist. i want to make the motor as simple as possible so im going carbed. Do they make a carbed 4.0 intake? or can i use a 258 intake on the 4.0. I need some help pleeaaasseeeeee!!!

thanks -ray

258 crank will get you a 4.5 not a 4.6. 4.6 is .30 over with crank. and if your going simple and just doing crank and rods. you can get by with just new fuel injectors.

if you go a little further you will need adjustible fuel pressure regulator and map sensor. still not a big deal. and not that pricey. i wouldnt wanna give up injection for a carb

do a little more research

Ive been looking more and more and im on the fence between carb and injection. i saw a article where the guy used ford 24# injectors and went that way. so im still unshure what way to go. i want reliable but not a hugeeee money hole. i can pick up an intake and carb for 100 bucks but if i leave injection wise i already have the set up. its a turn-key 4.0. Im stuck!!!!

Those specs should be on a sticky at the top of the page, very good stuff to know.

Clifford performance makes a carburetor intake for the 4.0 head. It was meant for people who swap the 4.0 head onto 4.2s.

Seems like not much gain for more stress on the pistons, and piston walls. Anyone have a dyno graph on this mod?
