I vote JCR. My buddy has a front deluxe and I have a pre-runner.

Just a guess. But I imagine when you have to pay for a shop, equipment, materials, misc supplies, wages, etc, that you actually have to make a little bit of money.

Businesses are supposed to make money, it was just pointed out that anyone with very limited fab skills and a welder can build one for a lot cheaper than they can buy one.

Love my dirtbound bumper, and the fitment was perfect. Wish I could afford the rear.

Oh and I know how to weld, but why not help out the small business owner?

Because blowing my budget to help someone else doesn't make much sense...

seems to be a lot of hatters on here - time is money and that is why they are charging X amount of money - i wish i had welding and fab skills but i dont - there for i will pay what the going rate is and so will others - its called buisness.

i have a lot of people who say the same thing when it comes to floor covering -"why do they charge $1000 just for the labor to install ceramic, i can do it myself and it will look the same." - but when they do it there self it is wavey, grout lines are off, and it cracks a year later. We can all do what we do well - and for the stuff we cant do well - we pay others to do it for us.

i am in the prosses of learning to weld but will still pay for some products that are welded because my time is worth something to me and the more time i spend in the garage the less time i have to spend with my family.

-and no im not hatting or angry - just stating my response to why "I" buy things prefabbed.

I don't think saying something is expensive is hating.

I wonder if our perception of too expensive has anything to do with if somebody is a JK owner a $1000 bumper is probably not as much to them as a $1000 bumper is a an XJ owner. For me I'm making my own sliders because $400 (including shipping) is WAY too much for me.

My buddy has a lot of JCR armor and he likes it. All of it looks great. Plus JCR has a sale right now.

WELL JUNK! (spell check will delete what i want to say)
after the front bumper im going to have to put mods on hold -
just came from the DR and i have a spot on my back that might be cancer's that has to be removed ASAP - wounder how much that will cost -there goes my long arm suspension - MF!

BTW -Im going with Dirt Bound - i just like the rounded sides and the way it sticks out just a little bit more but not too much.

JCR is tough to beat. I have a lot of their stuff, I love it all. Its very well built, those guys truly artists with welders. Plus they are in my home town. I will run their stuff on all my rigs. Excellent customer service, super nice guys. JCR all the way.

Both

Seriously, I run JCR DIYs front and rear. They are great... the kit is really well thought out, and they are beasts. cannot beat the price either. Tie in kits are well thought out, and after installing, I can fully flex and open all my doors.

But I do like the hoop kits from Dirtbound... so...

I just want to jump in and say that I think it's super awesome that the vendors actually hang around the forums and reply to their customers' / potential customers' posts. You are all awesome.

I haven't seen it mentioned yet but you may want to check out Nate's 4x4. They have some very reasonably priced and good looking bumpers. They also have a built-in steering box support.

Personally I haven't decided what I want to blow my tax refund on yet
