a good deal is only in the perception of the buyer. If it is what you want, and there is no others near or available...and you can afford it....who cares if it is $3000 or $10000...don't quibble on small matters if it is what you want. Don't be surprised that it is already sold....good deals do not move in slow motion.

So the owner told me it had been sitting for the most part for around three months. When he got back into town he started it and could hear a noise. Took it to his mechanic and the mechanic believes it is the timing chain. So the seller is having the timing chain, water pump, and serp belt replaced prior to the sale.

If I end up getting it I promise I'll update the post with pics! It's so clean some of you may drool a bit. Oh and it has Rusty's steel flares as well to go along with the trail armor (I looked up pricing on the whole kit and it is $700). Looks beefy as hell

 

Thats a sign to move on. It might leak after sitting but things like timming chains don't just magically break

 

It's a 20-year-old rig with 205k miles on the clock. The timing chain could have been on its way out for awhile. It's not something that worries me that much

 

It may be the timing chain, or it could be a lifter going bad, that is not pumping up.

Honestly, if you can get the truck at a decent price, it might not be bad. Just be prepared if the truck will require some engine work or even worse.

 

Yeah, I hear you. I'm glad it isn't the seller doing the diagnosing/work himself so fingers crossed the shop is able to fix it and doesn't find anything else wrong
