it's a mod to my XJ....clock panel
so i was out at the local junkyard yesterday searchin through XJ and trucks that people might have left useful stuff in (straps, toggle switches, chains, etc) and i found a clock panel out of a 89 XJ so of course i took it. My question is does the 96 XJ country have the wiring for it behide the dash or will i be running wires?

It may, or may not. I have pulled clocks out of a few different years; different connectors. My jeep was not wired for it, so I had to wire it myself. I gave another clock, to a buddy and his plugged right in. Mine is a '95, his is an '88. I have an overhead console from the JY,which plugged right in to mine. His is not wired for the OHC... YMMV.

A '96 will not have factory wiring for a clock, the clock function was adopted by the stereo at some point and it was phased out.
I installed one in my '96 by running a constant hot and an ignition hot circuit, both piggybacked from the stereo. The constant is required obviously to hold the time, and all the ignition hot does is illuminate the backlight when the jeep is running.
There were several styles of clock module, here is a link with wiring info:

Cheers!
