Default IRO hack N tap np242

I recently purchased a hack n tap SYE for my 2000 Jeep Cherokee with a np242 transfer case with 4 1/2" lift. I have done the initial measurements and I am a little confused. The instruction say to measure 33 3/4" from the pinion yoke to the transfer case output shaft. They also say that the measurement can be moved 3/4" to keep the minimum 1 1/4" spline length. At 33 3/4" I only have 1/2" spline left, but if I move forward 3/4" I have the minimum 1 1/4" spline, BUT with the minimum spline the yoke is too long and will hit the back of the transfer case before it bottoms out on the shaft. The only way I could get this to fit correctly is the cut 3/4" off the new yoke. Is this correct or am I doing something wrong? With the stock driveshaft I have some vibration, mostly under acceleration and can hear it under decelerations. Not bad at 75 mph, seems worse at low around town speeds. I just want to make sure I am doing the right thing here before I hack this output shaft and new yoke wrong. Thanks.

You need to keep as much spline contact as possible that's what I did and it work out fine . I been running it for about 5 years now with no problems .

When you say as much spline as possible, do you mean as possible so that the drive shaft fits? Like less that the 11/4 that IRO recommends? I'm trying to do this without having the driveshaft shortened, cause I live in a small town and haven't been able to find a place that does drive line work. Thanks for your help

I'm running a 4.5" lift also I just used a 2000 XJ's front drive shaft and it fit . If you look inside the yoke and see where the spline start and you can cut it there , but you do need to keep 1 1/4" of the spline so it wont strip out . if the yoke has that much spline .
