Minimum spline engagement on a DS
When the truck is sitting on the ground, I have no splines protruding. I do know it will slip when the jeep is flexed. I'm trying to determine by how much it will slip. Is it I have probably close to 5inches of splines and I want at least 2.5 of engagement at all times. My question is how much will a DS slip typically?

If you're saying with the slip yoke boot off that at rest you see NO splines you need a shorter DS ASAP.
If you flex it, on the upstroke that DS is gonna bottom out on the transfer cases output. NOT a good thing unless you don't like your transfer case.
You should see at least an inch of splines. No splines?? Failure immanent .
