Has anyone seen or heard of one of those shelves you mount to your visor location above the windshield?

I am considering building one of my own.
so far plan to add 2 small speakers towards the center that comes back behind front seats similar to plastic one in my XJ now. Rewire all 4 overhead lights. Add a compartment with nets for both passenger and driver side. Add maybe a lock box but unsure how. Considering similar opening cubbys like oe style. a couple toggle switches for other electrical throughout the beast. Maybe good alternative for where my future cb radio will go. Also maybe a cigarette power port for... Well you get the point i want to make it worth the time money and energy. I have a jolly roger flag coming in mail to replace my headliner and want the new mod to not cover too much of the skulls face. Any thoughts on this? Anyone have any schematics? Or even experience with this knowing will it majorly restrict my view ahead. Will it affect when i build a roll cage. Or even how should i go about mounting this securely to the body.

I would suggest the cage first, then you can attach the shelf to the cage. The open shelf type on the link above looks like a bad idea. I have had my jeep at some extreme angles that would dump everything off that shelf all over the driver and passenger.

Good point. I cracked my head on the door frame last night when a good sized bump in the trail caught me off guard. Whacking your head on a hard shelf would be unpleasant.

I have one in mine. I bought one for a Ford F-150 and cut it to length. It is a c-channel aluminum with a grey felt lining. Works for me

You're supposed to mount the visors on the bottom of it so you still have them to use

Look at the pic in the link provided above........
