I have an 88 jeep xj that im stroking out with a stage 2 stroker kit. I got a high output ported and polished head (7120) making it a head for a 91-99 if im not mistaken. I just ordered an APN header for 91-99 and need to get an intake. What intake manifold do i need to get to fit my 88 jeep with newer head and what are some good brands? Is there a specific one someone can recommend me to get? thanks

Just match port the Renix manifold to a Renix gasket and match port the head ports to the gasket. Use a 60mm throttle body from www.strokedjeep.com.
I've done 3 of them that way, including this 4.6:

The 99+ intake will physically fit any > 90 4.0 head (but NOT a renix head). I am also not sure if a Renix injector rail is the same as a non Renix. I also think you will need a > 90 throttle body, also you might need a TPS adapter to work with an non Renix intake. The other problem is converting the PS pump etc. . You will need to get the PS parts from a 97+ Jeep including the PS bracket, adjustment rod and pulley. They are still dealer available. Total cost of around $60. you should be able to reuse your PS pump. Not sure if Renix PS pump was different to > 90 PS pump.

53010148 PS bracket
53010149 adjusting sleeve
6503198 adjusting bolt x 2
serpentine belt from > 97 4.0 Gates K060895
You will also probably get interference problems between the intake and the APN header. Nothing a little grinding of the intake won't solve. you remove the old idler puller and PS bracketry and mount up the new one. You need to change the belt routing to the 97+ diagram. Pretty easy. Put a few pics in my album to show how it goes together.

I'm not sure about 3-5. The Aussie guy on go-jeep saw 15 and greater, especially when you have head work, aftermarket headers, and a bored TB.

I have a 99+ intake on my 95 ZJ. I can feel an increase on the butt dyno, that is all that matters to me. It pulls harder and longer (that's what she said) than it did with the old manifold.

Well, if you do as I mentioned, a bored throttle body and some minor port matching, you should gain the bulk of the 15 horsepower right there, eh?

And now I'm going to sound like a noob but is the Renix manifold the one I have stock on my Jeep? If so, am I better off match porting the renix manifold or just buying a new upgraded manifold? (Not worried about the budget)
